ArtStreet may have heard the chatter of excited voices coming from McGinnis Center Friday night as students gathered for a unique networking opportunity.

Students Today Alumni Tomorrow hosted a panel discussion featuring five University of Dayton graduates under 25. The graduates spoke with students about the challenges and exciting prospects students will have after they graduate.

The panel consisted of Kelley Shomaker ’12, Nicole Myers ’12, Bethany Renner ’12, Laura Estandia ’10 and Joe Klebba ’11.

The group began by discussing the transition from students to alumni and the job hunt after college.

“If you’re able to live in the city you want to work in and go and look for jobs there then do it!” said Estandia. “I realized I should’ve done more internships.”

Renner encouraged students to be aggressive in their job search during senior year.

“You can’t be hesitant tracking down job leads early on,” she said.

“Follow your passion, it will all work out,” added Estandia.

All of the panelists also told students to appreciate their time at UD.

“It’s the people, the setup of the university, you can step out on your porch and know everyone around you,” said Klebba.

Senior economics and marketing major Emily Striebick walked away from the discussion with reassurance.

“I think they had a lot of great things to say and they still have the same passion for UD that we all have,” she said. “It was reassuring that when we graduate in a couple months that there are bright things in our future.”
