Boys of summer?

Hurling round white objects at your opponents on the baseball diamond usually is cause for ejections and suspensions.

But after the benches cleared and the Flyers baseball game at Gardner-Webb was called, everybody had a good laugh.

Like most baseball teams north of the Mason-Dixon line, the Flyers headed to a warmer location for their early-season games. That plan usually works out well, except in this case, when the second game of the series was snowed out. Yes, snowed out — in Boiling Springs, N.C., of all places.

Now, baseball has a lot of downtime and players think up all kinds of crazy antics, especially during rain delays. But rarely do you see something like this scene that”s attracted nearly 40,000 YouTube views, aired on WXIA in Atlanta, MLB.com and appeared on Yahoo! Sports and
